About Schnuffel[]

Schnuffel

Schnuffel in 2008 holding the platinum edition of his record Ich Hab Dich Lieb.

Schnuffel was originally conceptualized in 2007 by Sebastian Nussbaum. He was originally created to advertise Jamba!'s "Kuschel Song" ringtone. The ringtone was later turned into a full-length song by Nussbaum and Andreas Wendorf and released in February 2008. Schnuffel's Kuschel Song was a hit, topping the charts in various European countries, becoming the fourth best selling single of 2008 in Germany and being awarded a platinum record for selling more than 300,000 copies. The Kuschel Song has since been translated into 13 different languages. Merchandise featuring Schnuffel was also produced, including posters, t-shirts, mugs, bags, and various plush toys. In Germany, Schnuffel's massive success was very polarizing; many people thought he was extremely cute, but many people thought he was annoying.

Schnuffel is a gray and white lop-eared bunny with big blue eyes. According to his German wikipedia article, he was designed with the Kindchenschema in mind. He lives in a fictitious land called Knuddeltal (English: Snuggle Valley) with his girlfriend Schnuffelienchen. In the audiobook series, Schnuffel und Schnuffelienchen, the two are in a very close relationship and go on many adventures together. Schnuffelienchen's song Ohne Dich is about how she feels empty when the two are apart.
